Yesterday (Tuesday) I observed some crows chasing a Hawk, and my initial =
thought was the Hawk looked smaller the crows. It turned out that the =
closest antagonist of the Hawk was in fact a Common Raven, which =
explained to me why my perception of this Red-tailed Hawks size was =
thrown off the mark for a bit. Here is a split screen look as all three =
flew pretty much directly over my head while I was at Sullivans Pond:

Another bird of prey I kept seeing yesterday but never really provided a =
good photo opportunity was a Northern Harrier that was cruising the =
Harbor, likely the same one recently mentioned by Pat Mackay. I first =
viewed it along Dartmove Cove in the morning, then later on in the =
afternoon by Tufts Cove and then yet again along the harbor about 1/2 =
hour later near the bottom of Jamieson St, Dartmouth, near the outflow =
there.

There were at least 4 American Coots still at Sullivans Pond, and near =
the Peace Pavillion there was one male Eurasin Wigeon.

Here are a couple of recent photos from my sister Rita. The first is of =
the Bonapartes Gull recently mentioned by Don MacNeill that was spending =
time near Hartlen Point. The second is of a Hermit Thrush that visited =
her yard briefly in Lower Sackville:

Here is one more look at the Great black-backed / Glaucous Gull hybrid =
that was frequenting Sullivans Pond. I haven't seen it for a number of =
days now, so it may have moved on. It was just starting to get much =
more approachable:

and finally, here are two photos of a very white young Iceland Gull =
puting a bite onto an adult, for no good reason that I could see other =
than to take its spot in the water and to show its dominance:
