All: The day before yesterday, Mike King flushed a meadowlark at Hartlen Pt. that he sensibly was not prepared to call Eastern - always a tricky call without a chance for study. Using the excuse of having to be briefly in Dartmouth, I looked for it today without finding it, but there was a cold, howling Nor'wester had come up mid-afternoon, and it may have been sheltering. Hope others try, as this bird is worth finding; we should never assume that winter memadowlarks are Easterns. I did see a couple of first-winter Bonaparte's Gulls in the mostly Iceland Gull flocks dip-feeding in the surf along the harbourside beach at H.P. Best, Ian
