All:

I have no stake in this book, but I certainly recommend it as much the best
general photo guide for N. America, and outmatching many regional photo guides
and even some on restricted bird groups. The focus is on variability rather
than representation, which is much the most informative way of learning more
about the birds. Of course, field guides with painted images have many
superior virtues, but this one is a must if you don't own a general photo
guide, or only have an outmoded one. Qute inexpensive, too ($24 in The Book
Room).

Cheers, Ian McLaren
