All,

This was a decent weekend for Project
Feederwatch<http://www.bsc-eoc.org/volunteer/pfw/index.jsp?lang=3DEN&target=
pg=3Dindex>for
me. Although eagles and ravens were down (two and one, respectively),
I
had my first Pine Siskins back in over a month. In addition, just after I
got off the phone with Bruce Stevens, where I was telling him about my thre=
e
RB Nuthatches, a fourth showed up.

Additionally, one of our secretaries told me of a bird at her feeder that
looked like a Blue Jay, but was almost all red. I confirmed with her that i=
t
did have a crest, and she said she'd call me on the weekend if it was back;
sadly, no such call arrived. I've only seen a small handful of cardinals in
Antigonish County.

A friend near Lochaber has a male American Kestrel roosting in his barn at
night; it's been preying on feeder birds (at least in part).

Oh yeah, the Barred Owl made a nice addition to Project Feederwatch
today=85only the second such occurrence in my ~10 years of participating in
that survey. It's still sitting there as I type this, and the darkness is
creeping in=85the Blue Jays and others went over to pay their respects a fe=
w
times, but the owl did not seem phased. I'll check for pellets tomorrow.

Randy
