White's Lake, 1 January 2008 I managed a little birding locally today, in between levees and socializing. My first bird was a Black-capped Chickadee, followed quickly by American Tree Sparrow, Song Sparrow, Dark-eyed Junco, and White-throated Sparrow. I poked around between Indian Harbour (and Paddy's Head) and Lower Prospect. Some highlights: 2 Dovekies at Lower Prospect, one off the wharf, the other in the bay to the west of East Coast Outfitters. I could not find any Dovekies in Indian Harbour. All three mergansers; Red-breasteds were widespread, and I had a pair of Common Mergansers at Black Duck Run, and a pair of Hooded Mergansers at Lower Prospect. Pine Grosbeaks at Bayside. Great Cormorants at Lower Prospect. Bufflehead at Prospect. In all, a wonderful day to bird, between the storms. Happy New Year. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Blake Maybank maybank@ns.sympatico.ca Editor, "Nova Scotia Birds" author, "Birding Sites of Nova Scotia" http://maybank.tripod.com/BSNS.htm White's Lake, Nova Scotia, Canada -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
