At our White Point property today, we have a large (for us) flock of 30 + black birds consisting mainly of Red-winged Blackbird males, although there are a couple females mixed in and one Common Grackle. These don't appear to be the juveniles we have been feeding. There is a smaller group (maybe 15 ) of starlings coming in right behind them. They stay awhile, head up circle around and hit the feeders again, the usual 30+ Mourning Doves, Blue Jays, a fewer than normal chickadees, a couple juncos and song sparrow, a white throat sparrow and an American tree sparrow........aggressive little blighter, one squirrel, one mole and 2 of the resort bunnies. The crow with the bad foot is adapting quite well and seems to be using the foot more. We are making an attempt to get food out just for it but the others aren't pushing it away so it is feeding quite well. Seems to enjoy eggplant and grapes.....which is what Superstore had on its mark down shelf. Marg in White Point, Queens http://margmillard.ca
