Dec. 14, 2007 - Sheila Young saw the EASTERN TOWHEE again this morning at
Grand Pre (first seen Dec. 10), but no recent sightings of the GRACKLE that
was there a week or more ago.

At my feeders in Wolfville, I saw a single REDPOLL very briefly. Our imm.
WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW is there again today, and the CHIPPING SPARROW was
here yesterday. And yesterday Pat saw at least 3 CARDINALS here, and this
was the first time we had 2 males at once (one female seen today). Also we
had a STARLING today at a suet cake (our first feeder starling in a long
time -- usually they go after the bird pies).

New Minas sewage ponds:

at least 5 adult ICELAND GULLS;
other gulls not abundant -- about 10 herring, 1 ring-billed, and 1 great
black-backed;
NO DUCKS AT ALL;
1 light-phase ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK;
at least 5 immature BALD EAGLES;
7+ SONG SPARROWS;
whoever goes there tomorrow, check the bushes lining the lane between the
two westernmost ponds for more sparrows.

P.S. I was advised to CALL SATU (a woman in charge) at 690-2215 to ask for
permission to check the site for birds; otherwise, the employees there are
supposed to turn away members of the public, as the sign at the gate
suggests.
