I enjoyed the call in show on radio noon today on CBC. Amazing that the heron survived........did anyone say what happened to it in the end? Last I heard it was in the truck crowding a tech from DNR. On my feeder in White Point, Queens today, were chickadees, starlings, mourning doves, goldfinches and juncos, a pine, blue jays, a redwinged blackbird male, a woodpecker, hairy I think (It seems to have a lot more black on it than it should) siskin, Baltimore Oriole is still here but spending less and less time now, several large crows, one of which has damage and a bum leg/foot, a sparrow, song and a sharpshinned hawk which harvested a chickadee I think. Other wildlife on the feeder, a squirrel, a grey creature...mole vole or small rat (not the right shape for the rat I think) ? it is scooting all about under and up the grapevine to the feeder and has trails going everywhere; and two bunnies.
