Hello All,

Today at my feeders I have had quite an assortment of song birds. I have to admit that even though I try to identify them with binoculars and my Sibley, Robie Tufts and National Geographic books, I still have a hard time. Can I be the only one? I try to focus in on their head markings, wing and tail bars, & I saw "Ahah!!" but then, sometimes I just don't catch everything & then I think, they must be something else of which I have no idea...sigh...
However, :o) birds that I am pretty sure of, that have been frequenting my backyard feeders here on Glenwood Ave. are:

  2 Male & 1 Female Northern Cardinals
  2 (anyway)Male White Breasted Nuthatches & 1 Female.
  Both Hairy/Downy Woodpeckers
Quite a number of juncos today
Lots of (I think) American Goldfinches
  Only 2 Blue Jays
Several (I think) Purple Finches (small rose coloured birds), & from the drawings in Robie Tufts books females as well.
A number of Sparrow types, Song &, including a fair number of house sparrows, which I never saw all summer.
  Very few starlings
  pigeons
  Black-capped chickadees
  1 Baltimore Oriole

  Happy birding everyone!
