This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --Boundary_(ID_cGGjeb0paD722XUPJMeIjw) Content-type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT Ken McKenna Box 218 Stellarton NS B0K 1S0 902 752-7644 Hi all On the eve of Remembrance Day, Randy Bachman on CBC's radio program, Randy's Vinyl Cafe ended his show tonight on war theme songs with a song he composed for a documentary on the Hermit of Gully Lake- Willard Kitchner MacDonald. Willard had jumped a troop train to avoid the draft into World War 2 and spent the next 50 years living alone in the wilderness around Gully L. near the Pictou- Colchester county borders. Gully Lake is one of the last number of Protected Wilderness areas declared in the province after a lengthy letter writing and lobbying campaign and is indeed a beautiful area of the province. I have led a few field trips into the area including one for the Nature NS Annual meeting that was held in Truro a couple of years back. In Randy Beckman's song the voice of 2 children and the voice of Willard MacDonald speculate on whether peace in the world can ever be achieved. Several times a couple of lines from Willard say "I believe in miracles" and "sometimes miracles happen". This would be a nice wish in our world of turmoil. If anyone knows when this documentary might be shown, I would love to know. Sorry if the subject here is a trickle off topic, but I think anyone who has hiked into the Gully Lake area has surely been inspired and maybe even heard the voice of Willard. Spend a moment tomorrow to reflect on those who have fought the past and present battles. Lest we forget Ken --Boundary_(ID_cGGjeb0paD722XUPJMeIjw) Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <META content="MSHTML 6.00.6000.16544" name=GENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=#ffffff> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Ken McKenna<BR>Box 218 Stellarton NS<BR>B0K 1S0<BR>902 752-7644</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Hi all</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>On the eve of Remembrance Day, Randy Bachman on CBC's radio program, Randy's Vinyl Cafe ended his show tonight on war theme songs with a song he composed for a documentary on the Hermit of Gully Lake- Willard Kitchner MacDonald.
