John Belbin is quite right, as is Jim Wolford. The town is Pembroke
and the
location of the swallow gathering place is a sandbar on the Muskrat
River.
The book by the way, is Up North by Doug Bennet and Tim Tiner, who go
on to say that when the swallows head south, they end up in enormous
flocks in the Everglades.
