Monday I went on a late afternoon walk around Hartlen Point. Walking up the service road I ran into a gang of warblers. Along with the chickadees I seen and counted a minimum of 7 Golden Kinglets, 2 Palm Warblers, at least 10 Yellow-rumped Warblers, 2 Black-and White Warblers, several Common Yellowthroats and a few other I couldn’t ID. Warblers were outnumbered by sparrows. These included Song, Savanna, White-throated, White-crested, and A. Tree. I sure missed one or the other species……

Near Back Cove two female Spruce Grouse crossed the path. On the rocks in the seaweeds I spotted several flocks of American Pipits (total number for sure >30). Shorebirds included several Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs (nice side-by-side comparison, more Lesser than Greater ~20 in total), Black-bellied Plovers (20-30), Dunlin (~20), Semipalmated Plovers, Sanderlings, few Least and Semi-palmated Sandpipers, Pectoral Sandpipers, 3 Ruddy Turnstones.

Two Northern Harrier and a Peregrine Falcon stirred the shorebirds up a couple of times, giving a better idea what was actually sitting in the rocks and weeds.

Other birds noticed included several Robins (one carrying food?), Eider Ducks, Black Ducks, two Great Blue Herons. No turkeys were seen, guess they had other obligations this weekend…..
