Last year I reported that a bluejay with a broken and severely malpositioned R leg had returned to my feeders for the fourth year in a row. Yesterday I was impressed beyond measure to see it back again for a fifth year! It is easily identified by the strikingly awkward angle of the broken leg, which makes landing, take-off and balancing at the feeder 'saucer' a real challenge requiring much wing flapping to maintain balance. It also has a distinctive diagonal white slash at the base of its extreme R tail feather. Eleanor Lindsay Seabright, St Margarets Bay
