Dear All, Aug 9, 2007 I noticed an interesting difference between coiled and straight tendrils tonight. My only cucumber plant this year was in a tight corner so I trained it up a bean pole. The three tendrils that coiled tightly around a Common Reed blade are still green and turgid even though I soon broke the blade and only a shard remains in the coil. The 10 or so tendrils that found nothing to curl around are limp and shriveled or dry and brown except for the most recently expanded which is still turgid. Nothing goes to waste. Yt, DW, Kentville
