This is a longhorn beetle. It's hard to see well from the side, but I'm pretty sure this is Strangalepta abbreviata (Germar) a very common 'flower' longhorn in the Maritimes. It's quite a variable species with the elytra ranging from rufous to black. The larvae feed on various decaying conifers and deciduous trees. Cheers!
