In other years I have had a male "feeder guard" perched on the metal =20
arm from which the feeder
is suspended but not this year. Perhaps the habit will be resumed. I =20=

say this because this morning
I saw a male perched on a spruce about 60 feet away from the feeder =96 =20=

I had the feeling he was
watching and waiting for another hummer to come to the feeder so it =20
could be chased away because
I've observed this behaviour in other years. But still, no females =20
have appeared for some time. While
working outside yesterday though, I could hear the unmistakable =20
"zoooooom" of hummers so know
they are about.
