Sheila and Stephen, I'm sure Chris will come up with its identification, but
it is definitely a metallic wood-boring beetle, in family Buprestidae.
Cheers from Jim

Subject: [NatureNS] insect identification

?
Hello.
Around June 20th, I spied this glitzy insect on a hardy geranium in our
garden here at 'Rockburn', Fergusons Cove.
Stephen Archibald took the photos posted at
http://rockburn.smugmug.com/gallery/3129533#171539665.

Does anyone know what it is?

Thanks.
