Different bugs. Necrophila americana (N.B. sharp eyes Jim ... have to  
keep Necrophilia separate from Necrophila ... :->) is in the  
Silphinae and is sometimes called the American Carrion Beetle.  
Nicrophorus americanus (in the Nicrophorinae) is the famous American  
Burying Beetle (or American Sexton Beetle), the very rare and  
endangered species which now exists only in relict populations in  
portions of its former range. The former is abundant in Nova Scotia;  
the latter has never been recorded here.
