Stinking Willie), Senecio jacobaea L. This is a noxious weed introduced in North America from Europe and now naturalized in many areas of Nova Scotia from Pictou to Cape Breton and west through Colchester and Cumberland counties with sporadic locations south to Yarmouth. The Cinnabar Moth (Tyria jacobaeae) has been introduced in portions of the province to try and control its spread They are seeking assistance from people here who could collect seeds for them for use in genetic analysis. If this is of interest to you, please contact me for details of how to collect them and the information to be noted. Senecio jacobaea plants are flower in July and August and more information on how to recognize the plant and the Cinnabar moth are located at: http://www.biology.leidenuniv.nl/ibl/S9/edu.shtml#Seneciojacobaea The researchers offer "a small present" in exchange for your effort and time.
