Saturday, June 30, 2007 - Photography Workshop
Join Keith Vaughan, a local top-notch nature photographer, for some tips on how to photograph close-ups of flowers. We'll look for spring varieties such as Bittersweet Nightshade, Hawkweed, Sorrel, Speedwell, and Jack-in-the-Pupit for some memorable photos. Wear walking shoes or footwear of choice for the weather. Optional equipment: 35mm camera; macro lens; tripod; cable release.

      .  Time and place:  2:00 p.m., by the woodshed at the entrance to Smiley's Provincial Park. Take Exit 4 off Hwy 101 onto Hwy 14. Follow Hwy 14 through Brooklyn, then take a right turn approximately 5 km past Brooklyn. You will see a sign for Smiley's Park.

Saturday, July 7, 2007 - Butterflies
(storm date: Sunday, July 8) 
Join Peter and Linda Payzant looking for butterflies typical of grassy fields and woodland edges of Uniacke Estate Park, and later, a woods road in the Pockwock watershed area. We can expect a good variety, including fritillaries, blues, sulphurs, and of course several types of those challenging skippers. Bring binoculars, a hat, and insect repellent. ! Please register in advance for this trip !

      .  Time and place:  1:45 p.m., at the Uniacke Estate parking lot. To get there take Hwy 101 to Exit 3; turn onto Hwy 1; follow it north towards Mount Uniacke for about 6 - 7 km. Watch for the Uniacke Estate Park sign on the left.

      .  Difficulty:  Easy
