Today I had to evict a family of deer mice from a tool chest in the barn
(not for the first time). I usually relocate them to an old aquarium with easy
access and they seem to take very well to that environment. Perhaps because I
feed them and give them water. In this case I was fascinated by the means
that they tried to get away when I first found them. The three young mice
attached themselves to the mother by apparently grabbing her hair around the tail
and hanging on while she scooted around the chest. Never seen that before.
When they can all fend for themselves I turn the aquarium on it's side to
encourage them to leave and stop feeding them but they generally stay around for a
while.
