All: Here's a clarification received this a.m. of breeding records f N. Wheatear in NL. Jim Cameron has just sent several photos taken yesterday of the N. Wheatear at Taylors Head PP. It's a female, and it's still worth looking for a possible nesting. Does anyone know if the CSI bird this spring was a male or female? There is a caveat to the breeding Wheatear in Newfoundland -- it was a one time occurence following a ver yuvery unusual spring influx that saw dozens of Wheatears arrive on the Avalon Peninsula due to some unusual prevailing weather patterns. Its unusual enough to see two Wheatears together here, let alone have two decide to stake it out and breed. It has not happened since, and there have been no subsequent breeding records south of Black Tickle, Labrador. That being said, you are right to suggest its worth keeping an eye out for - if it happened once, it can happen again. Cheers (and hope you're having a better start to summer in NS than we are here!!), Jared __________ Jared Clarke Basic Medical Sciences (Neuroscience), Faculty of Medicine Memorial University of Newfoundland St. John's, NL, Canada
