He described the bird in writing, and the song. This morning several of us converged at the spot and searched for about 2 hours. At one point Angus heard the song, coming from deep within the thick swampy alders along the river, but despite searching, pishing and playing a tape, we could not re-discover the bird. General birding in the area was excellent, with a Rose-br. Grosbeak pair, mother and young Hairy Woodpecker, several Brown Creepers, numerous N.Waterthrushes, Redstart, B & Ws, BT Greens, Yellow-rumps, Veeries, Red-eyed Vireo, a Robin pretending to sing like a Mockingbird, and a calling Barred Owl (not Bernard - he was with me at the time!). We'll keep on looking, and I'll let people know if we have any further luck. Richard -- ################# Richard Stern, 317 Middle Dyke Rd.
