Your dad had the right idea, Paul. Jenkins says the original lawns of 18th
century France and England were "mowed" by the cattle and sheep that were
pastured on them.

My father used to say the only useful lawn mower was a
set of teeth. Preferably connected to 4 milk taps and
a fertilizating attachment!
