I arrived at the Middleton High School at 8:26 - the first 3 swifts showed up at 8:30, but it was slow from then on. By 8:50 there were still only 6 birds circling the area. The first one entered the chimney at 8:56 but the others seemed content to zoom about and didn't start to enter in small groups until 9:15. The last group of 6 went in at 9:25 and I left at 9:30. Nothing very dramatic this evening but at least a few birds are using the facility. People were leaving a school drama presentation as the swifts were entering and no-one even noticed.
