Hi All
This afternoon being cloudy and wet and not fit to
garden I went over to the river to sit and watch. When
the sun came out a fly something in the order of a
damsel fly came by. First I thought it was something
being blowing in the wind but then I realise it was
going againt the wind.
It was damsel fly size but all legs and not much of a
body. The legs were black with white stripes around
them. Pretty thing. Long - made it look like a bundle
of legs. Latter I saw several more.
The flies known to anglers as "Yellow Sallies" had
also started to hatch - only saw a couple of them
sitting on a branch. Prehaps they will deposit their
eggs this evening.
Also a mayfly with a claret body. The inspiration for
Mr Cowans popular fly "Dark Montreal" Good fish food.
Once after I caught a fish a fellow angler asked what
fly I had used. I replied my version of a Montreal. He
looked at it and said - Well at least one of the
suburbs!
Enjoy the Loon Count
Paul
