June 1, 2007 - After dark, I noticed a JUNE/MAY BEETLE (³Junebug²) attracted
to lights on our porch in Wolfville. Are they late this year? (usually
present from the last week of May onward).

June 2, 2007 - This evening at dusk at the Robie Tufts Nature Centre in
Wolfville, Ted Wolkowski saw 2 COMMON NIGHTHAWKS fly over the area, headed
eastward, at 9:12 p.m.

June 3, 2007 - At dusk this evening, at about 9:15 p.m. at the Robie Tufts
Nature Centre, a BAT (presumably a little brown bat) was seen flying long
before dark (and Ted Wolkowski says he has been seeing at least one bat
flying at dusk there for at least a week now).

Also at the same time an AM. ROBIN was seen CARRYING FOOD in its beak, which
is a confirmation of breeding for my Maritime Breeding Bird Atlas square.

June 4, 2007 - Freshly road-killed WHITE-TAILED DEER on Highway 101 near
exit 2 (Middle Sackville exit), where there is a concrete partition between
the eastbound and westbound lanes, a huge problem for wildlife, Iım sure!

Twice today in east Wolfville, Brenda and Bill Thexton were pleased to see a
female N. CARDINAL at their feeders. Also they have had a m/f pair of
PURPLE FINCHES for several weeks.

June 5, 2007 - Jim Perkin reported that, in Wolfville, sometime in the past
week, he and Dorothy Perkin had seen a bird that was very probably or
certainly a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD (well described and picked out of a field
guide by Dorothy, who is a long-time residential bird observer). The
location was a new house off Cherry Lane, not far from the railroad tracks.

Cheers :-) from Jim in Wolfville, 542-9204
