Hi All=20
On Tuesday 22nd I got a tantalizing glimpse of a new visitor to our =
yard. Last evening it returned still as skittish as before but I had =
done some home work and was able to confirm it was a not so bright =
female Western Tanager. I wasn't able to view it through my bino's for =
more than a few seconds at 30' but the 1-2 min at 8 feet earlier on the =
deck feeder was more than enough to nail it down. As shown in the Large =
Sibley's' the bright adult female but with the pale adult females' =
lighter back and lighter wing bars. but the belly was as bright as the =
bright ones. It's been a few years since we had seen one here at our =
feeders it's nice to see one back around again.

While keeping a good watch this evening around supper time when the W =
Tanager has shown up (not tonight) I finally was able to see all three =
WC Sparrows feeding here all at once. 1- W. + 2 E. Taiga.

A large movement of birds arrived on the 7th mostly returning Juncos, =
Tree Swallows, YR, and Palm Warblers. Followed by flocks of Barn =
Swallows on the 8th. With the arrivals on the 7th was a Little Blue =
Heron in little Dover. and a Sand hill Crane at the usual location in =
Canso. Th LB Heron was last seen on the 13th and the sandhill left due =
to disturbance from heavy equipment (60-70 yards away) on the 12th.

It's been a busy spring for Vultures for these parts. Several individual =
TV's were spotted over and over since the middle of April. This was =
punctuated on April 26th by a flock of 11 T. Vultures seen first over =
Durells Island and then moving along towards The Hazel Hill Area and =
then out of view to the West (fide Tom K.). Steady sightings over the =
next two weeks again with 6 TV's again by me on May 7th.

Just a few up dates of more notable birds.

Tom K

Canso
