I checked out Butler Road (South Kings Co.) this morning.
Surprisingly other than Least Flycatcher, I did not find any other
flycatchers. (this is an area where one expects to find Olive-sided &
Yellow-bellied). It seems these have yet to arrive and I have yet to
hear Pewee nor Alder, both of which nest close to our property in
Coldbrook. I also could not find Gray Jay, Boreal Chickadee nor Rusty
Blackbird.... species one would usually find along Butler Road a few
years ago. Clear cutting has removed much of this habitat, so much so
that in places I had difficulty recognizing the area.
The only species new to me this year was Canada Warbler. By way of
compensation a number of the common warblers posed nicely so I got
some good pics.
