Today about noon Ian McLaren and I found a pair of Red Phalaropes in breeding plumage
just off (and a bit seaward) of the big sewer outfall boil off Alderney Landing, Dartmouth. I
suppose they qualify as as local rarities.

Other highlights of our short trip included a Whimbrel on the Hartlen Point golf course (easily
visible from the road), an Eastern Kingbird on the nearby beach, and one of Ian's adult
Laughing Gulls (there were two yesterday) on the grassy field at Shannon Park.
