Nice day to be out.

Hartlen Point golf course is changing. It seems that lately a lot of construction work on the course and cutting back of the woods (thinning out) was going on. Nothing serious, just noticed that some spots look different now.

My observations:
Golfers were out in good numbers, only outnumbered by American Robins on the fairways. Few Yellow-rumped Warblers, Song Sparrows, BC Chickadees visible. Back Cove held 5 Greater Yellowlegs and two Willets. Two Ospreys overhead, guess the pair which will eventually nest on the pole behind the driving range.

In one of the ponds somebody installed what looks like a nesting aid of some sort. A pole in the water had a roll of straw (1m x 30cm) mounted on it. Free standing ~1m above the water surface, with a premade cavity in it. Just wondering who is supposed to move in? Merganser and other cavity nesting waterfowl come to mind... Anybody seen this kind of "nestbox" before?

Cheers

Ulli
