It was cold, damp and windy. I wasn't really birding, but casual observation revealed that the Robins were still out on lawns and fields, and some were singing on territories. There were several Song Sparrows paired up. I was struck by the large numbers of waterfowl - it seemed that every roadside pond, marsh and river edge had Green-winged Teal, and we also saw a few Blue-winged, Gadwall and Hooded Mergansers.
