I would suggest it is a toad.

  Subject: [NatureNS] Frog question

Amongst the many voices of Spring peepers at our pond, there is one =
call that sound very different. It's more like a trill, with frequent =
pauses lasting several seconds in between. I've listened to a number of =
frog calls on the internet, but so far none sound like what I'm hearing =
from our pond. Any suggestions as to what I should look for?
  Thanks,
