Thanks for forwarding my message to NatureNS. Derek Bridgehouse is going to take the cocoons. Yesterday a Palm Warbler and=A0 a Hermit Thrush showed up at my place in Port Williams, and a Ruby-crowned Kinglet was singing its heart out in Palmeter Woods while a Mourning Cloak butterfly checked out my hat. Must be spring! Cheers, Nancy From: "Nickerson, Nancy" <NickersonN@AGR.GC.CA> Date: Sun, 22 Apr 2007 12:44:38 -0400 To: Jim Wolford <jimwolford@eastlink.ca> Subject: Tree swallows, cocoons There were three Tree Swallows at Van Nostrand=B9s pond this morning, plus three Blue-winged Teal (two male, one female or perhaps immature). Further to the recent NatureNS postings about silk moth cocoons, I have fiv= e (probable) Cecropia cocoons and was wondering if you know of anyone locally who might want some for educational purposes. Jean Timpa=B9s recent posting gives information on how to handle the cocoons so that the moths will emerg= e at the proper time.
