I thought I'd give a report of what we (Steve B. And myself) found while = doing our survey route last evening. Early in the day with light NE winds and the forcast giving for SE today = I knew that we had to get a calm first befor the blow (experence making = my living on the water). So off we went under perfect conditions. Stop #2 yeilded 1-UNOW Stop #3 yeilded 1-GHOW, 2 NSWO, 2-BARR Stop #6 yeilded 1-BARR, 1-GHOW Stop #7 yeilded 3-BARR Stop #8 yeilded 2-GHOW, 2-BARR Stop #9 yeilded 2-GHOW, 1-BARR Stop #10 yeilded 5-BARR all 5 detected before we got set up to call 2 = dueting pairs and 1 calling nearby. We made an extra stop 300m from stop # 9 to try for a visual on the = 2-GHOW and encountered a dueting pair of BARR roadside. The GHOW's still = refused to show themselves although were heard nearby. In total we encountered 24 Owls along the route up from 5 last year. Don't pass up an opertunity to go Owling.=20 It's so much fun it feels like it should be illegal. AND to boot a RCMP = oficer stoped to investigate and then joined us for some = education/excietment.
