Hi there,

I did the "circuit" along Highway 207 last Friday afternoon, 6
April. Notable were Common Grackles, noisy and present in good
numbers everywhere. Two Red-winged Blackbirds were the first I've
seen this year. The first of these was near West Lawrencetown, and
both were at feeders. The cattail marshes still look pretty empty.

A lovely male Northern Harrier patrolled the shoreline of the West
Lawrencetown Marsh, where I carefully counted about thirty American
Wigeon. There was also a single male Eurasian Wigeon and one male
Gadwall. Then an immature Bald Eagle flew over, and a cloud of ducks
rose up, circling in agitation, revealing that there were nearly
sixty American Wigeon! and probably other birds I missed.

A small flock of a dozen or so Canada Geese flew over from the ocean
towards Conrad's Beach. Red-breasted Mergansers were present in
small numbers at many places, and at Conrad's the males were
exhibiting courtship behaviour, always fun to watch.

	Cheers,

	Patricia L. Chalmers
