From the windown of Marie Wamboldt's home across the highway from the post office in Clementsvale I was able to observe the following birds at her feeders or nearby from past Friday, Saturday and today: 4 Fox Sparrows at any one time 3-4 Song Sparrows 1 White throated Sparrow 1Tree Sparrow somewhere between 20-25 Northern Juncos maximum 1 female and 2 male Purple Finches 6-7 American Goldfinches; one male has almost completed his summer coat while others are just starting with a bright feather here and there. 1 female and 2 male Downey Woodpeckers 1male and 1 female Hairy Woodpeckers several Blue Jays a Crow or two hoping to get to the suet a male and a female Ring-necked Pheasant clucking to one another as they fed on the "scratch" 2-3 Common Grackles 3 Red Winged Blackbirds `a flock of at least 17 Robins who were busily examining an area where the plow had uncovered a muddy parking lot and some sod this morning approximately a dozen Mourning Doves countless Black capped Chickadees flitting back and forth to the sunflower seed supply 5 Evening Grosbeaks "Missing", which I have sometimes seen from Marie's window, were Nuthatches of either kind, Starlings, and Pine Siskins. A Red Squirrel and a Chipmunk are also regular diners, much to Marie's disgust! -a pretty good list for rocking chair viewing! JET
