Hi there,

A friend in East Gore phoned me today to ask if there have been any
reports this year about the status of Evening Grosbeaks. (I know that many
of us used to see large flocks back in the 70's, but they have been more
localized for several decades. I'm not asking about that.)

In her area, she regularly hosts a small number at her feeders in the
winter, and then in mid-March a great many arrive (50-100) and throng her
feeders for a couple of weeks before they disperse. This pattern, which
she has observed for years, didn't happen this year. She has seen only
three so far this year, two in January for a few days, and a single bird in
March, for one day.

Is anyone seeing Evening Grosbeaks in expected numbers this year? Has
anyone detected a recent change?

	Cheers,

	Patricia L. Chalmers
	Halifax
