Feb. 16, 2007 - On my way back to Wolfville from a meeting with a bunch of people at Avondale, West Hants Co., concerning the welfare/sustainability of the Avon Peninsula (north of Windsor), I stopped briefly at Marian Fultonıs home in Avonport. My timing was perfect, since Marian was just unloading groceries from her car, AND her quite ³tame² and gorgeous male YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER was, as usual, clinging to one of the feeders that hang from the edge of the roof of her back patio. It just sat there and allowed good views with binoculars from the driveway. As some of you will recall, Marian first reported a sapsucker, then an immature, back in the late winter of 2004-2005, then presumably the same bird, now an 1.5-year-old male, appeared last winter, and again presumably the same bird now is spending long periods of nearly every day in the same back yard. I have copied to Marian Fulton for those who may wish to contact her. Cheers from Jim in Wolfville, 542-9204 --------------------- Jim (James W.)
