Field trip organised by Halifax Field Naturalists: POCKWOCK WATER TREATMENT PLANT - SUNDAY 18 FEBRUARY Join Peter Flinn, Supervisor of the Pockwock Lake Water Treatment Plant on a tour of the facility. Peter will explain how the Halifax Regional Water Commission protects the Pockwock watershed area and the measures taken to ensure the quality of our drinking water. Contact: Burkhard & Ingrid Plache at 475-1129 or hfn.programme@gmail.com Time/Place: 9:30 a.m. at Tim Horton's on Kearney Lake Rd. near Hwy 102 for car-pooling (Metro Transit #2 will take you very close to the car-pooling site) OR 10:00 a.m. at the gate at the end of Pockwock Road. To get to Pockwock from the Kearney Lake Tim Horton's: follow Kearney Lake Rd. under Hwy 102 for about 6-7 km until it terminates at Hammonds Plains Rd. Turn left and proceed about 6 km on Hammonds Plains Rd. to Pockwock Rd. (atEnglish Corner). Turn right onto Pockwook Rd. and drive 7-8 km through Upper Hammonds Plains and on to the end of the road at Pockwock. The locked gate marks the entrance to the Pockwock watershed. We will assemble here to enter at 10:00 am. Duration: 1.5 hrs Difficulty: Easy All are welcome!
