I finally made it to the valley today outside of the eagle watch weekend. David drove and the roads inbetween were not good. Anyhow, we had four target species of which we obtained one. On the plus side, I actually added seven species to my year list and three to the winter list. Of interest: A wonderful male Barrows Goldeneye at close range at the Port Williams Sewage Ponds. The last bird of the day count was a rough-legged hawk as we left the passage from Port Williams to the New Minas Turnoff. Lots of horned larks with 8-12 at five or six locations. 274 American Black Duck in a cornfield, which were being harrassed by a bald eagle. A brown creeper. Northern Flickers 4. At and near Merrit Gibson's. No sign of the Carolina wren, but I saw a female northern cardinal there and had a good view of a yellow-bellied sapsucker that was on the side of a bare limb, before it flew off out of sight towards the river. A single American Robin out by Grand Pre. There was plentiful bird activity everywhere that we went. Bald eagles were very spread out. James R. Hirtle Dublin Shore. _________________________________________________________________ Invite your Hotmail contacts to join your friends list with Windows Live Spaces http://clk.atdmt.com/MSN/go/msnnkwsp0070000001msn/direct/01/?href=http://spaces.live.com/spacesapi.aspx?wx_action=create&wx_url=/friends.aspx&mkt=en-us
