Jan. 9, 2007 - At the Port Williams sewage ponds, there were no goldeneyes,
just 45 MALLARDS (26 males, 19 females) with a single male ³BLALLARD² or
³MACK DUCK² (McDuck??)(³hybrid² mallard X black duck).

Jan. 14, 2007 - Finally, after lots of looks out at our feeders in
Wolfville, after again almost 2 weeks of not seeing them, our female and
male N. CARDINALS reappeared briefly. Also present there and new to our
yard were 3 ROCK PIGEONS.

At Grand Pre, in the yard of Sheila and Earl Young, Pat & I saw a BROWN
CREEPER, along with 2 WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS, 3 MOURNING DOVES, 4 BL.-C.
CHICKADEES, and 4 AM. GOLDFINCHES.

Also at Grand Pre, mostly near the raptor feeder of Lloyd Duncanson, we saw
3 BALD EAGLES, 7 RED-TAILED HAWKS, and a SHARP-SHINNED HAWK (the latter is
the first sharpie that I have seen this winter).

A few days ago, Pat Davis in Port Williams sent me digital photos of a
BALTIMORE ORIOLE that was in her back yard. Back on Dec. 16/06, during the
Wolfville Christmas Coun t, Doug Linzey and I found a BALTIMORE ORIOLE in
Wolfville, at the corner of Robie Tufts Drive and Marsh Hawk Drive (as far
as I know, nobody has looked for it since then).

Another item concerns HOUSE SPARROWS in Wolfville, among which there was a
DICKCISSEL back on Dec. 16 & 17/06 (Jean Timpa & Bernard Forsythe). Lately
there have been 6-20 house sparrows sometimes in a dense yew hedge by the
old Maritime Tel & Tel building, just across Main St. from the Acadia
Cinema, but I havenıt been able to spot the dickcissel among them.

Jan. 16, 2007 - Yesterday and today during the continuing SNOWFALL and cold
temperatures, lots of GOLDFINCHES etc. at the feeders. Today 4 ROBINS were
sitting high in trees in our back yard, and a female FLICKER visited our
suet feeder.

Cheers from Jim in Wolfville, 542-9204
