Hi All
This afternoon BB and I went to see if we could find
this meadow and its reputed stillwater.
We did - It was just where our GPS said it would be.
Kind of a hard walk with wet spots. About 2 k.
An interested hardhack meadow - looks like the beavers
have had the water up and down a few times. the
stillwater meanders for 1 k or so but was frozen
today. The area has been lumbered in the past - very
selectively cut by the look of the old stumps. Some
looked like they were notched with an axe and then
sawed probably with a crosscut.
Birds were few. A couple of ravens and an eagle. Birds
nests were more common in the decidious bushes
however. One very small nest but very well built was
especially attractive. Prehaps a warbler. They would
be hard to find in the summer.
A little snow made deer and rabbit thracks easy to
find. Deer tracks were especially plentiful.
A good way to get out on a winter day.
Enjoy the winter
Paul
