Hi all
I did a little scouting around this afternoon for the upcoming Pictou =
County CBC's. About 3:00 at Sinclair's I. on the inner Chance opposite =
Chance Harbour Beach, there was a first winter LITTLE GULL. It was with =
a nice grouping of birds- ~ 500 Bonaparte's Gulls, and ~ 600 Mergansers =
95% being Red-breasted and the remainder Common. Searching throgh the =
birds I also noted a first winter Black-headed Gull. There was a Great =
Blue Heron here as well and a second one near the north end of the Egypt =
Road by the little channel. From the rocks off the Chance Harbour wharf =
there were 3 Harlequin Ducks.=20
When I arrived home about 4:00, I noted a different sparrow in my =
driveway with Tree Sparrows and Juncos. It seemed rather tame and maybe =
ill. I took some photos (film) and am pretty sure it is a first winter =
Lark Sparrow.It was still feeding in very low light at 5:15.=20
