Anita was able to show me the rather tame female Mandarin Duck escapee =
yesterday afternoon at 1st Lake, and here is a photo of the duck with =
superimposed photos of the leg band information, should anyone know the =
owner or wish to pursue its origin:
http://bernieb.smugmug.com/gallery/916397/1/41786832/Medium

The description of its voice as sounding like a sneeze is a good one. We =
only heard it once, but the bird had raised its crest when it did it, =
and it was a great photo opp. but neither of us were ready for it. This =
species has great visual appeal...I can imagine what a breeding plumaged =
male must look like in person.
