The NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD that has been showing up for about a month is
still here eating blueberries.
Yesterday a BALTIMORE ORIOLE arrived and is back again today. It is
feeding on blueberries even though I provided orange slices and grape
jelly on my tray feeder. I observed the oriole standing up to a blue jay
and actually causing the jay to vacate the tray feeder. I didn't expect
this! The mockingbird and the oriole seem to be tolerating one another
at present.
Also, today on the outskirts of town I saw a flock of about 25 snow
buntings along the highway to Sydney.
David Johnston, Port Hawkesbury.
