10 November 2006

Joan Waldron and I hiked the southern portion of Shag End, between
Shad Bay and Blind Bay, on the road to Peggy's Cove. We were
surprised to encounter a Monarch Butterfly and a Common Green
Darner. Another Monarch Butterfly was noted along Hwy 333 in Blind Bay.

Birding was quiet, although there were many gannets feeding south of
the southern tip of Shag End, and two small flocks of White-winged
Crossbills came in off the ocean and flew north along the peninsula.

Cheers,
