--Apple-Mail-1--315821813 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; delsp=yes; format=flowed There is much cloud around but from time to time there are large holes in the cover and a bit of open sky shows through; some of us may just be fortunate enough to catch a view of the Space Station in one of the openings as it makes its last good visible pass before it leaves the current cycle of visible evening passes. It will be into December before ISS is nicely placed as an evening object again. Date Mag Starts Alt. Az. Max.Time Altitude Az Ends Time Alt.Az. 04 Nov -0.7 18:11:47 10 WNW 18:14:34 67 SW 18:16:24 19 SE It is a nice high pass originating out of the west northwest. Between 6:14 and 6:15 p.m. it reaches maximum altitude, 67 degrees above southwest, almost the altitude of the summer sun, and remains visible well into the southeast (I doubt that the cloud will permit that). With the bunchy nature of cloud cover it looks like the only best hope of getting a glimpse of it will be if there is open sky near overhead in the south. Tonight's pass will be particularly bright just as it reaches the peak of its pass. I saw the pass Nov 1 and last evening. On both occasions the ISS was particularly bright, brighter than I usually see it. This is probably due to the additional solar panel surfaces that were added just a few months ago.
