Index of Subjects This is about the time of year we see large numbers of Atlantic Sauries *Scoberesox saurus in the Strait. Do your billfish look like http://www.osl.gc.ca/guide_sp/en/poiss/sp/images/s-saurus.jpg Billfishes usually refer to the sailfish (projection is above the mouth. Sauries have the lower part (mandibles) projecting. Cheers Andrew >>> <roland.mccormick@ns.sympatico.ca> 10/25/2006 3:15 PM >>> I have been waiting for someone to tell us about the large schools of billfish around the Canso causeway. On the plus side my daughter says she has seen the largest flock of eagles and gannets there that she has ever seen, but on the other side the gulls seem to be dropping the fish on the causeway and the place stinks. Billfish I believe are a southern fish that are found along our coast in the summer. I caught one years ago while fishing off the Cape Sable causeway - it looked to me like a baby swordfish. Roland.
