I have been told these birds have occasionally been seen in Cape Breton in the past. I had a good long look at this bird on Tuesday 17th from about 50 - 60 feet for about two minutes. Have looked for it several times since without luck but plan to continue trying. It was flitting through tall bushes but remaining quiet enough at times for positive identification. Interesting that some references refer to this bird as a "miniature mockingbird". We also have a MOCKINGBIRD in our neighborhood for the past several weeks feeding on a variety of berries and competing with many robins. The gnatcatcher is so much smaller, cleaner, and has completely different active movements. A lifer for me! --------------050805040504040107010303 Content-Type: text/x-vcard; charset=utf-8; name=dwj.jem.vcf Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="dwj.jem.vcf" begin:vcard fn:David Johnston, Port Hawkesbury n:Johnston;David adr;dom:;;207 Hiram St.;Port Hawkesbury;N.S.;B9A 2C3 tel;home:902 625 1534 version:2.1 end:vcard --------------050805040504040107010303 Content-Type: text/plain; x-avg=cert; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Content-Disposition: inline Content-Description: "AVG certification" No virus found in this outgoing message.
